Moving Day

Who would've guessed I'd be so sad to leave Provo?!
My emotions didn't leave anything out, that's for sure. I shed tears at the Hendricks the night before moving day, then as I packed, then when my parents left, then when Pete's parents left, then as the U-Haul trailer left, and of course, when finally Pete and Emery and I left.

My parents, the Hendricks, and Pete's family all helped out so much. I'd still be packing in Provo if it weren't for their hard work boxing up and cleaning up our apartment. Brian and Ashley were kind enough to actually drive the car pulling the U-Haul trailer all the way from Provo to our apartment in Atlanta. Not only that, but when they picked us up from the airport in Atlanta, they had already unloaded all of our stuff into our apartment. Seriously. Can you see why I get emotional having to be so far away from such awesome people? Pete and I are so grateful for all the help from our family; we couldn't have made this move without them.

Maybe I'm too sentimental, but moving to Atlanta meant more to me than just leaving Provo. It meant leaving behind lots of family members within driving distance, leaving the place where Pete and I fell in love, the first apartment that we brought our little baby home to. I just kept thinking of how a wonderful chapter of our lives was ending. However, I realize a new and exciting one is about to begin---complete with new challenges and adventures. It was right for us to come to Georgia, and I know we are going to grow so much as a family.

Here's some pictures from moving day...

This is one of my favorite pics. Emery and Grandpa J spent the morning together. She was so sweet and just let him hold her and play with her. She must've known it would be the last time for a little while.
At one point during the packing craziness, I set Emery down alone in an almost empty room so that I could  help pack in another room. A while later she started fussing a little bit. Luckily, Hannah, Eli, and Asher went to play with her. I came into the room to find her happy and babbling with the cute Hendricks kids. I was glad they were keeping her company! Look at Eli and Emery about to touch pinky fingers together...I didn't even see that at the time I took the picture. So cute!

Random Monday :)

Life is good.

I'm trying hard to spend time with all my friends and family in Utah before we leave for Georgia (even though I should probably be doing responsible things like packing, cleaning, paying bills, etc.).

I've realized I've become one of those obsessed-with-their-baby moms whose blog posts contain nothing but pictures of their little one. Oh well---my excuse is that it's for the grandparents (but truly, I am obsessed with this little girl. She's adorable. I'm loving her little smiles these days).

I'm amazed at how busy I am with just the simple tasks of the day.
I have what I call The Big Five:

Read Scriptures
Make Dinner
Exercise
Maintain house cleanliness
Get out of the house once

It's a REALLY good day if I get all of these done in the midst of feeding, playing, and sleeping Emery every 3ish hours. One reason I'm grateful for Emery is that having her is really teaching me to focus on the basics---the things that really matter. I don't have time to do many of the leisure activities that I used to (though somehow I seem to make time for blogging. I think 'cause it's therapeutic). I have to pick and choose the things I'm going to get done everyday. Along with The Big 5, I'm learning that it's most rewarding to invest my time in people---my husband, talking to my mom or dad on the phone, spending time with family, having dinner with friends, making things for people, etc.

Ultimately, I'm discovering that...

A simple life is a better life.

Have a great week!

Intramural Champ :)

I came to one of Pete's first games this Spring and spent the majority of my time sneezing and inwardly screaming at my immune system to "chill out! It's just grass!" I hate allergies. Suffice it to say I was not seen at the rest of those games there in the middle of the season. When it got to his last couple games--for the championship, I really wanted to go watch, so me and my over-reactive immune system prepared with Claritin, heavy-duty nasal spray, and even eye drops.

I'm glad I came because it was a really fun two games to watch (and this is coming from a girl who usually thinks baseball is pretty boring). They lost in a really close first game to the team "Pink Destruction" (now doesn't that sound intimidating?) and then had to play another one against them again for the win. The second time they really played well, securing the championship with a final score of 10-3. Peter has been playing with this softball team for 2 or 3 seasons--the team is mostly made up of friends from the ward he was in when we were dating. He had tons of fun playing with these guys and it looks like the summer season of softball intramurals are just around the corner (I guess I'll be stocking up on allergy meds).
